After classification of universe Universe has a two form matter and radiation according to Einstein matter and radiation are related to each other by the using the equation E = mc2
Both are related to each other for example if we take a Chalk and when your teacher write on a blackboard the chalks particles are a down the floor can you see this chalk particles your answer is yes so so this any tiny particle if we see then This particle is is exist in the form of matter but if we this t i n y particle is further broken down with a special instrument and about hundred times smaller then before one and this stage if we can see that particle then we also called matter but again further broken down with special instrument about 1000 times before one and this stage what happened are you see that particle ????
Answer is no!!!!!
Where goes the matter???
Answer is the matter is converted into the radiation which has no mass no Volume and cannot be feel our five sense organ (you are confused in terms of air??? you can feel the air example switch on your fan) 
And suppose for example if we have any power to join the all the 1000 particle then what happen you will see the particle and further join to that This particle you see the the particle which start your experiment its means you can now see that particle after joining all the particle so that radiation converted into the matter after joining these particles
So so this example to help you to understand relation between matter and radiation..
